How To Deal With Spots & Stains On Carpet

Alcohol, Coffee, Tea, Urine.

Blot up surplus spillage using absorbent cloth or white kitchen paper.

Apply lots of pressure to absorb as much liquid as possible.

Working from the outer edge of the stain inwards, use 

Detergent Vinegar Solution, a little a time.

Frequently blot with dry cloths.  See Final Rinse Procedure.

Chocolate, Sweets, Ice-Cream.

Scrape up excess using blunt knife.

Working from outer edge of the stain inwards, use a Detergent Solution.

Blot Dry. Follow up with Ammonia Solution. Blot dry.

Fats, Gum, Shoe Polish.

Scrape up excess using blunt knife.

Working from outer edge of the stain inwards, use a Dry Cleaning Solution

followed by Detergent Vinegar Solution. Blot dry.

See Final Rinse Procedure.

Items & Solutions Needed.

1) Clean white absorbent cloth or towel.

2) Dry Cleaning Solution:  (Surgical Spirit available from Chemist).

3) Detergent Solution: Teaspoonful of gentle woollen detergent in half pint

    (0.3Litre) warm water.

4) Detergent Vinegar Solution: Add teaspoonful of white (not malt) vinegar to

    Detergent Solution as described above.

5) Ammonia Solution: Teaspoonful of household Ammonia in cup of warm water.

Final Rinse Procedure.

1) Mix 1 part white vinegar to 4 parts water.

2) Use spray bottle to apply to stained areas.

3) Blot damp area, (do not rub), to remove excess moisture.

4) Spread white kitchen towel (6-8 sheets deep), or absorbent cloth over the area and place a weight on top.
